San Luis Obispo has been a farming community since the mid 1800s. It is a proud legacy that permeates the city’s culture. To honor this heritage, San Luis Ranch will include the original farm house and ag building as the centerpieces of the Ag Heritage Center, a community gathering place. The surrounding 50+ acres of active organic/sustainable farm land and open space, by design, provides our youth with hands-on exposure to farming and agriculture. Community gardens will also accent the neighborhoods helping to foster this learning on a more personal level.
San Luis Ranch is the first Farm-to-Table Community on California’s Central Coast, preserving agricultural land and enhancing the quality of life that San Luis Obispo residents cherish. The neighborhood consists of single-family and multi-family parcels nestled alongside an organic/sustainable farm that invites San Luis Obispo residents and visitors to participate in our city’s vital agricultural life. This philosophy is supported further with the inclusion of retailers, amenities, open space, and multimodal pathways that bring walking and biking to the forefront of transportation options.
